We are celebrating 2 years of the SANTO SKATE park – a project conceived in 2021 and inaugurated in August 2022.
It was of great importance and symbolism to have the presence of exceptional partners, some longstanding, like Luquinhas & Instituto Ademafia, Hugo Oliveira & Galeria Providência, Coletivo Skate Maré, and new partners like the incredible women from 2 das Minas and a dance company.
We also inaugurated four new murals signed by artists Léo Nawar, Kadu Ori, Madruga, and Camila Sent, thanks to our partnership with André Bretas & Rua Walls.
Since our inauguration in August 2022, we have held over 288 skate lessons, introduced new classes and students, and developed cultural integration and occupation projects like Cine na Pista and Ocupa Santo Skate, with social skate projects from across Rio de Janeiro, tournaments with our young skaters on the podium, an edition of our November Black Festival featuring dance battles from @sagas.abatalha, and much more!
We remain committed to making Santo Skate a multifaceted and inclusive educational, cultural, and artistic space.
The 2-year anniversary marks the launch of the first children’s skate tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
