NOVEMBRO NEGRO FESTIVAL

Novembro Negro is a cultural festival born from the work developed by Casa Amarela Providência, with its first edition launched in 2020.

The festival's pedagogical intention is to give back to the territory, Morro da Providência—located in Little Africa—and also to invite all residents to discover the educational work developed at Casa Amarela.

Our educational paths are focused on teaching ethnic-racial relations and education for diversity, which have been built at Casa Amarela throughout the year.

The festival showcases all the activities carried out by the participants alongside the educators and collaborators, culminating in artistic works such as performances, exhibitions of educational activities, photo exhibitions, videos, documentaries, and more.

For 2 to 5 days, we occupy the square and our skate park with activities attended by all collaborators and special guests committed to the same anti-racist educational purpose. This movement reaffirms our commitment to the residents of Morro da Providência and their historical context. We also aim to foster the local economy and enrich the cultural calendar and scene of the territory.

In 2023, for our 4th edition, we were awarded funding by the Zona de Cultura - Ações Culturais grant, supported by FETAERJ and the Secretary of Culture.
