CASA AMARELA PROVIDÊNCIA

WHO ARE WE?

Casa Amarela Providência is a center for CULTURE, EDUCATION, and ART, located in Morro da Providência, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, contributing to human and territorial development, and reducing social impacts through activities led by educators, artists, and cultural producers from both Providência and other areas.

Founded in 2009, Casa Amarela Providência offers educational, artistic, and cultural activities, as well as professional courses and training, knowledge-building based on scientific evidence, and knowledge-sharing, alongside research results, encouraging territorial appreciation and local culture.

Since 2020, it has hosted its own annual cultural event, the Novembro Negro Festival, which received its first public funding in 2023. The Festival has welcomed more than 1,000 people and, in addition to showcasing educational work, serves as a contribution to the local community.

The Casa has created collectives such as the Women Independent of Providência, the children’s Afro dance company Colerê, and the Luna Orchestra, composed of music and violin students.

In 2021, the Casa inaugurated its second educational space, Santo Skate, located at Quadra Dodô da Portela, Américo Brum square. It is currently working on expanding the space and constructing a third location to accommodate approximately 135 people who attend its activities weekly.
